Autograph - Turn Up The Radio

If you're a fan of heavy metal music, you'll remember Autograph's 1984 top 30 song, Turn Up The Radio. It would be their only hit single, but they've been able to milk the song for all it's worth. It's still played occasionally on rock stations around the country. The band's last album was 2003's More Missing Pieces. Enjoy!

Michael Damian - Rock On

In 1989, The Young and the Restless heartthrob Michael Damian hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts with his rendition of David Essex's 1973 single, Rock On. Damian has actually recorded five albums, and had eight top 40 hits, but he's only remembered for this one hit. Enjoy!

Cornershop - Brimful of Asha

I remember buying Cornershop's, 1997 album, When I Was Born for the 7th Time specifically because I liked this song. I was so disappointed because the rest of the album wasn't that great to me. It's typical of one-hit wonders. Usually, because the "one hit" is so big, all the other songs pale in comparison. Enjoy!

Spacehog - In The Meantime

Spacehog's biggest hit was their first single ever released. It was 1995's In The Meantime, which was the first track off their debut album, Resident Alien. They would go on to release two more albums before splitting up in 2002. A little trivia: Lead vocalist Royston Langdon married actress Liv Tyler in 2003, and they have one son together named Milo William Langdon. Enjoy!

The Rembrandts - I'll Be There For You - Theme Song to Friends

This is probably the most recognizable theme song of any sitcom. The video features the band goofing around with members of the cast of Friends. The song premiered with the show in 1994. Interestingly enough, the band normally writes all their songs, but this song was written specifically for the show by Michael Skloff and Allee Willis and was initially offered to both They Might Be Giants and REM, who both declined. Enjoy!

Daniel Powter - Bad Day

When this song first came out a few years back, it had the feel of a one-hit wonder, and so far, that is exactly what has become of Daniel Powter's Bad Day. The song went to #1 on just about every chart in the U.S. including the Billboard Hot 100, Pop 100 and Adult Contemporary charts. So far, he hasn't had a single even come close to the success of Bad Day. Maybe in the future, he can be taken off the one-hit wonders list. Only time will tell. Enjoy!

Baha Men - Who Let The Dogs Out?

If you're going to be a one-hit wonder, then it's best to have a hit like the Baha Men. Their 2000 single, Who Let The Dogs Out? is still played regularly at sporting events all over the country. They won a Grammy award at the 2001 Grammy's for Best Dance Recording. That's one way to extend your 15 minutes of fame. Enjoy!

Edwin McCain - I'll Be

Edwin McCain hasn't been able to match the same success he had when he released his 1998 hit single, I'll Be. It peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Edwin got his start playing in college frat houses and bars and is probably a little annoyed that his biggest hit is a sappy love song that's played at numerous weddings around the world. Oh well, I'm sure he's not too annoyed though when the royalty checks come rolling in from the song. Enjoy!

Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians - What I Am

This song reminds me of my freshman year in college. It was completely different from any other song on the radio back in 1988, and it was a top ten Billboard single. Edie married Paul Simon back in 1992, and they've been happily married ever since. This was her only big hit as a singer. Enjoy!

Blind Melon - No Rain

Blind Melon's video for No Rain is probably one of the most memorable videos of all-time. Everybody remembers the bumblebee girl. Blind Melon probably would have had more hits if not for the untimely death of lead singer Shannon Hoon in 1995. As it is, No Rain remains their only hit. It went to #1 on both the Billboard Mainstream and Modern Rock charts in 1992. Enjoy!

Tommy Tutone - 867-5309/Jenny

Ahhh.... The most famous telephone number in music. In 1982, Tommy Tutone's hit single 867-5309/Jenny was a #1 Mainstream Rock hit and it peaked at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. A common misconception is that Tommy Tutone is the name of the lead singer, but it's not. His name is actually Tommy Heath. The name comes from the original name of the band which was "Tommy and the Tu-tones", which was later shortened to just Tommy Tutone. Enjoy!

Los Del Rio - Macarena

Like the Village People's Y.M.C.A., Los Del Rio's Macarena is one of the most recognizable songs in the history of music. It doesn't matter whether you are at a baseball game, wedding, corporate meeting or neighborhood party, as soon as this song comes on, people start the Macarena dance.

This song spent a record 14 weeks at #1, and it's the longest running #1 debut single in American music history. Amazing for a couple of guys who've spent most of their lives as lounge acts. Enjoy!

Jamie Walters - How Do You Talk To An Angel

For those of you who were in high school back in the late 80's and early 90's, you'll remember Jamie Walters as Ray Pruitt, the poor construction worker who dated Donna (Tori Spelling) for a while while sleeping with Valerie (Tiffani Thiessen) on the side. The song was #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts for two weeks in November of 1992. The song was actually written for the soundtrack to the short-lived television show, The Heights.

Wondering what Jamie is doing now? He's married with a family and as of 2004, he is a full-time firefighter/paramedic with the Los Angeles Fire Department. Enjoy!

Biz Markie - Just A Friend

In 1989, comedic rapper Biz Markie came out of nowhere and hit it big with his single Just A Friend. In the video, Biz wears a wig, ala Amadeus, and intentionally sings off-key for the chorus part of the song. In 2005, he appeared on VH1's Celebrity Fit Club, and lost more weight than any other celebrity. He's definitely a good example of someone who has extended their 15 minutes of fame out much farther than anyone would have imagined. Enjoy!

New Radicals - You Get What You Give

Unlike a lot of one hit wonders who actually release a number of albums, the New Radicals only released one album. 1998's Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too. The first single released from the album is the reason why they are a one hit wonder. You Get What You Give was a huge hit worldwide. Especially because the celebrity bashing lyrics at the end of the song caused so much controversy:

"Health insurance, rip-off lying
FDA, Big bankers buying
Fake computer crashes dining
Cloning while they're multiplying
Fashion shoots with Beck and Hanson,
Courtney Love and Marilyn Manson
You're all fakes, run to your mansions
Come around, we'll kick your ass in".

Aside from the controversy, the song is a great song, and it's too bad they didn't release any other albums. Enjoy!

Vanilla Ice - Ice Ice Baby

Welcome to One Hit Wonders! To get us started, here's one of the biggest one hit wonder songs in the history of any type of music. It's Vanilla Ice's 1990 #1 single Ice Ice Baby. At the time, it was only the second rap song to hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. And, for Vanilla Ice, it was his only major hit. And, like so many other one hit wonders, once his star faded, he had a really hard time adjusting to reality.

In fact, one of the ways he has adjusted is by appearing on numerous reality tv shows such as Celebrity Boxing, VH1's Surreal Life and currently on Ty Murray’s Celebrity Bull Riding Challenge on CMT.

But, no matter what he does for the rest of his life, he'll always be known for one thing... Ice Ice Baby. Enjoy!
