Soft Cell - Tainted Love

Tainted Love by Soft Cell was released in 1981. The band considered it to be their last shot at a hit single. Guess what? It became that and more. It was #1 in seventeen countries and it peaked at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in 1982. Even though it didn't hit #1 in the U.S., it did set a set a then-Guinness World Record for the longest consecutive stay on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 charts (43 weeks). That's one heck of a one-hit wonder! Enjoy.

Edwin McCain - I'll Be

Edwin McCain hasn't been able to match the same success he had when he released his 1998 hit single, I'll Be. It peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Edwin got his start playing in college frat houses and bars and is probably a little annoyed that his biggest hit is a sappy love song that's played at numerous weddings around the world. Oh well, I'm sure he's not too annoyed though when the royalty checks come rolling in from the song. Enjoy!

Shawn Mullins - Lullaby

Although Shawn Mullins is still active and just released a new album this past year, he's still known primarily for his one big hit so far: Lullaby. Lullaby went to #1 on the Billboard Adult Top 40, #7 on the Billboard Hot 100, and #9 on the Modern Rock Tracks. It's a very creative and catchy song. Enjoy!

Don Johnson - Heartbeat

Wow! I had forgotten about this song until I heard it on one of those commercials on TV advertising 80's songs. Miami Vice's Don Johnson released his first solo album back in 1986, and this song was a top five hit. It's his only hit so far. Enjoy!

Jamie Walters - How Do You Talk To An Angel

For those of you who were in high school back in the late 80's and early 90's, you'll remember Jamie Walters as Ray Pruitt, the poor construction worker who dated Donna (Tori Spelling) for a while while sleeping with Valerie (Tiffani Thiessen) on the side. The song was #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts for two weeks in November of 1992. The song was actually written for the soundtrack to the short-lived television show, The Heights.

Wondering what Jamie is doing now? He's married with a family and as of 2004, he is a full-time firefighter/paramedic with the Los Angeles Fire Department. Enjoy!
